Lizbeth “Libby” Benson is an Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan Institute for Social Research and a faculty member at the d3center. She develops methods using intensive longitudinal data, computational modeling, and machine learning to study how affective, social, and health behavior processes unfold over time and context. Her work uses ecological momentary assessment and sensor data to inform personalized health interventions, including reinforcement learning approaches for tailoring just-in-time adaptive interventions for smoking cessation. In MAPCI, she contributes methodological expertise in modeling and personalization.
