Lauren Ghazal is an Assistant Professor at the University of Rochester School of Nursing and an Associate Member in Cancer Prevention and Control at the Wilmot Cancer Institute. She is a PhD-prepared Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC) whose research focuses on improving the health and quality of life of adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer survivors. Her program of work includes the development and testing of interventions designed to address survivorship needs and promote well-being during and after treatment. She also studies the financial toxicity of cancer care among AYAs, integrating perspectives from economics and health care to better understand costs and burdens experienced by survivors and families. As a 2026 MAPCI Fellow, Ghazal joins a community advancing rigorous methods for designing, optimizing, and evaluating interventions in cancer prevention and control.
